Embark on a journey of sustainability with your students through hands-on experiences
The Story
When your class suddenly finds themselves on an uninhabited island, you meet two feathered travelers, Ricardo and Raj, who impart their worldly knowledge upon their new friends. With the help of famed anthropologist Professor Flora, you’ll create your own society from the ground up while exploring sustainability topics ranging from ecosystems to food production. Plunk your students in the driver’s seat of this choose-your-own adventure competition, as they encounter complicated real-word topics in a fun, educative way.
How it Works
Mission Explorium is equal parts fun for students and easy for teachers. Over the course of this four-quest competition, students will explore sustainability and take on fun, curriculum-related challenges. Each week, classes will explore sustainability topics such as ecology, agricultural traditions, food choices, and culture. Students will break into five squads to explore these topics through the lens of language, arts, science, math, and careers.
Through the completion of activities and quizzes, classes will earn points that will allow them to compete with other classrooms across the country. Teachers can also make use of Mission Explorium’s student workbook, which, along with some viewing questions, allows students to reflect on each quest's videos and activities, as well as their own skill development.
